Israel appoints new envoy to Christian world after Lebanese Jesus statue, Pizzaballa controversies

The new appointment, George Deek, had previously been Israel’s ambassador to Azerbaijan. He was also, the Foreign Ministry noted, Israel’s first Christian ambassador in history.
